Neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley are suffering from an increase in residential robberies rattling their communities. The two most recent cases were reported late Sunday night and early Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The first incident took place in Studio City on Sunday around 11pm. According to LAPD, the 911 caller told Dispatch he saw someone inside a residence in the 12,000 block of Rye Street.
“Officers arrived and searched for the location [and found] The homeowner probably shot the round,” a LAPD spokesperson said.

It was not immediately known whether the suspect was shot or if anything had been stolen from the house, but a robbery report was made, the spokesman said.
Officers were seen investigating properties with high walls and gated driveways around the boundary line.

The second robbery was reported less than four hours later, two miles away in the 4,000 block of Longwood Avenue around adjacent Sherman Oaks.
The homeowner was not in the home when the burglar attacked about 2:20am, authorities said. Like the Encino house that was attacked a few hours ago, the house had a gated driveway and walls around the property.
“After further investigation, officers determined that four suspects wearing gloves and backpacks had entered the home,” LAPD said. “It’s unclear if anything was taken or not.”
No details have been made regarding either incident. It is unknown whether they are related.

These latest incidents are the latest in a noticeable increase in robberies in the San Fernando Valley, particularly in the areas of Studio City, Sherman Oaks and Encino. These include many luxury homes.
“American Idol” executive Robin Kay and her husband Thomas DeLuka included Thomas DeLuka, an “American Idol” executive who was shot dead in a luxury Encino home on July 14th. The next day, I spoke to KTLA.
A few days after the murder, a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. In addition to two counts of murder, Raymond Boudarian is charged with one count of first-degree home robbery after being allegedly jumped onto a fence and entered through an unlocked door.

Law enforcement officials have pledged residents to take steps to “restore peace” in the area. However, another home in Encino was attacked a day after the LAPD chief announced measures to prevent further incidents.
In a similar incident to the incident that occurred Sunday night in Studio City, the Hollywood Hills homeowner served as a muzzle intruder over the weekend until police arrived and detained him.
It should be noted that the San Fernando Valley had an increase in robbery last summer, with Sherman Oaks and Encino being targeted, just like the nearby Vannuis district. In one case, the robber attacked the same house twice in three days.
