The Socal Resident is now raining more after a clear and warm weekend this week.
Officials with the National Weather Service said the “seasons of storms” will bring cloudy, cool conditions to the area starting Monday. However, we do not predict that the first round of rain will be too shocking.
“The system will approach the area on Monday, but will fly south on its way to San Diego County… Possible clouds and rain will be postponed until late afternoon or evening,” reads the NWS Area Predictions Discussion. “Until late Monday night, there’s enough wraparound moisture to produce some light showers on Tuesday, south of Point Conception.”
Up to a quarter of rain could fall into southern Roun County and Catalina Island, but most places will be less.

After the first storm leaves the area, it will open up a cloudy road on Tuesday, the NWS says. Wednesday is “Toss Up Day,” but Thursday can be very wet for most of SoCal.
“A lot of things depend on the speed of the system that is departing and approaching,” the authorities said. “Sudden water is unusual in March. This is close to an inch because there is plenty of water in the system.”
Preliminary forecasts show that this week’s system will dump 1-2 inches of rain in coastal and valley and valley areas, but 2-4 inches of hilly and mountain communities are predicted. Minor flooding and thunderstorms are possible, and authorities are warning residents of an increased risk of debris flow in areas affected by the January wildfires.

Snow levels will drop to about 3,000 feet on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Blowing snow can make it difficult to travel through the mountains through Grapevine, Tehongpass and roads near the north of Ojai.
“It’s certainly not like it feels like March when the maximum temperature is below the normal 10-15 degrees,” NWS officials said.
