Five people have been arrested and millions of dollars worth of illegal cannabis have been found in an Orange County warehouse near Angel Stadium, officials announced Tuesday.
Law enforcement officials destroyed an unlicensed cannabis operation on April 16th. This was linked to organized crime, according to the Cannabis Bureau (DCC), and poses a “significant risk to public safety.”
Details of the RAID itself remain limited, but the DCC said the officers seized more than $2.7 million in weeds from illegal indoor cultivation and manufacturing services.
This includes around 1,788 pounds of cannabis plant, 413 pounds of flowers and 98.76 pounds of concentrate.
Authorities did not immediately identify the five suspects arrested during the attack that occurred several hundred yards from the baseball stadium. The Anaheim police supported the operation.
“Thanks to the hard work of our officers and partner agencies, this broad operation has been shut down,” a statement from DCC Director Nicole Elliott read in part. “The Anaheim Police Department has stepped up to the plate for this operation. We value their partnership in protecting the public and reducing the size of illegal markets.”
For the safety of the community, authorities also pointed out that they tagged the site red and turned off the electricity.
