Mother and young children inside during an explosive attack on Huntington Park. I doubt it’s not home

Dozens of federal agents used explosives to raid a Huntington Park home Friday morning, but the suspect they were looking for wasn’t there – his girlfriend and young children.

After the explosion exploded through the window, tactical equipment agents kicked the front door and raided the house in the 7500 block of California Avenue. US customs and border security later confirmed he was the target of the operation.

Univision said in Spanish with Jenny Ramirez, a woman at home.

Ramirez also said, “They said they were homeland security, from the ice. They exploded my windows and doors. They didn’t identify who they were looking for.”

The incident that led to the attack stems from a June 20th protest at Bell. Federal officials allege that Sierra Hernandez plunged his car into a CBP unit during the protest. But a neighbor told KTLA that federal agents allegedly had brake checks on Sierra Hernandez, who was driving a Black Jeep. He was reportedly questioned and released at the time, but authorities have not confirmed this version of the event.

Bell Police initially posted a statement about the incident online but deleted it. KTLA reached out to explain, but there was no response.

However, previous talks about the protest reported that Bell Police Department responded to a traffic crash involving a child who may have been injured near Atlantic Avenue and Brompton Street at about 3pm on June 20th. Initial reports show that the front of the Jeep is anchored under the border guards, where federal forces work to separate cars and children. According to Bell PD, the driver had already been outside or had been taken from the jeep by the time the officers arrived. At the scene, police said they learned that the Jeep driver had carried over the rear of the border patrol.

“As tensions surrounding federal immigration enforcement efforts have risen, crowds have begun to form around the scene,” BPD added. “Some individuals violated road safety barricades, attacked US customs and border patrol agents and destroyed police vehicles.”

The KTLA is still working to find out more about the Bell incident and why the authorities returned searching for its resident Friday morning.

Authorities initially told KTLA on Friday:

However, later that day, Customs and the Border Patrol issued the following updated statement: “Jorge Sierra Hernandez was arrested for smashing his car into a CBP vehicle, causing serious damage and obstructing the work of agents and officers during the course of law enforcement surgery. US citizens face consequences, including arrests.”

Neighbors say Sierra Hernandez surrendered to authorities late Friday afternoon.

This was not the first time a federal agent had raided a home in Huntington Park. On June 12, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem joined federal immigration agents in an assault targeting a man with a criminal record. About half a dozen heavily armed vehicles hide U.S. immigrants and customs forced agents who have converged in a home occupied by a pregnant 28-year-old mother and her four children. The agent was looking for a husband who was not home at the time. DHS was later posted on X, and the target of the attack was “an illegal foreigner from Mexico, who had been deported before. His criminal history includes drug trafficking and assault.”
