It was discovered that the couple died Thursday after two calls to two separate police stations about 350 miles apart.
Garden Globe police made a horrifying discovery around 8am after a young girl called 911 and asked officers to help their mother. Upon arrival, investigators discovered 37-year-old Crystal Gonzalez had died inside a short-term rental property in Morgan Lane.
The two children were found to be unharmed and unaware of what happened, police said.
Police have launched a search for Miguel Lopez, the father of two, before the family said the car was found more than 300 miles north in Stockton city.
According to the Stockton Police Department, 35-year-old Lopez shot a 54-year-old man at the Elkhorn Reserve Country Club before taking his own life.
Records show that the couple shared Loddy’s home, about six miles south of Stockton’s shooting.
Garden Grove police say Lopez was found leaving the Garden Grove home early Thursday morning. Investigators found no evidence of forced entry into the home.
It is still unknown how Gonzalez died.
