Aidan Jingi, a motocross genius who recently signed with Kawasaki’s famous Team Green Program, passed away on Saturday at age 16 after an injury that occurred during the Mammoth Mountain MX event at Mammoth Lake.
According to industry website dirtbikelover.com, in the 250cc B class race, Zingg was hit by other bikes saying “falling to the corner.”
Growing up in Hemet before his family moved to Washington State, Jing won the American motorcyclist Assn. The Amateur National Championship at Super Mini 2 was held in 2024 at Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Recently, he has competed in the Championship for seven consecutive years.
Aidan’s younger sister, Alex Jingi, 18, paid tribute to her brother on Sunday.
“It was a day and I feel it was once in a lifetime,” she wrote on Instagram. “My heart is totally broken. You were kidding I was so old and I was going to die first. I was always kidding you were crazy and you were going to be the first.
Zingg began racing in elementary school and soon ruled the 65cc, 85cc and Supermini classes. After signing with Kawasaki’s Team Green, he showed a big promise in the 250cc class. His other sponsors included Oakley, Bell and Renthal.
“It is sincere to lament the passing of Kawasaki Team’s Green Rider Aidanging,” Kawasaki Racing posted on X.
Motocross journalist Don Maeda paid tribute to Zingg on social media, writing, “I wrote that he was one of the kids who impressed you from the moment you met him. I interviewed him when he was 65 and when I asked him how long he would be until he beat his dad. [former racer Robert Zingg]. He smirked and said, “As soon, I’m sure.”
“Then, he always went out of his way to say hello, and recently he grew into a fast, big bike rider.
Zingg’s final social media post came 10 days before his death. A joint Instagram post with Zingg Racing’s Motosport.com reads “Remember my name…@aidanzingg.”
