A motorcyclist was killed and his passengers were hospitalized after a crash in Long Beach.
On July 3, Long Beach Police responded to the intersection of Downey Avenue and South Street before 9:30pm
A preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was moving west along South Street along with female passengers.
As he approached the intersection, the Toyota 4 Runner was turning left when the motorcycle crashed, police said.
Both motorcycle riders were kicked out of the bike. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spotted a man lying in the southbound lane of Downey Avenue and a woman lying on a nearby sidewalk.
Jonathon Pola, 20, of Long Beach, was declared dead at the scene. The unspecified woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Toyota drivers are helping with the investigation. At this point, police said speed and distracted driving could be potential factors in the collision.
