Musk admits taking controversial weight loss drug RFK Jr. opposes

Billionaire entrepreneur and top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, has revealed that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also a top adviser to President Trump, has confirmed the benefits of a controversial class of weight loss drugs. It was announced that it was received. Drug use is bad for Americans’ health.

“Ozempic Santa” Musk posted an image of himself dressed as Santa Claus and in front of a decorated Christmas tree on X, formerly Twitter, on Christmas Day. I wasn’t hungry. “It’s like Cocaine Bear, but with Santa and Ozempic!”

In a follow-up post, Musk revealed he was adopting a branded version called Mounjaro, but said the clunky name “doesn’t have the same ring to it.”

Musk, along with former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, was selected by Trump to head the soon-to-be-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to cut wasteful government spending and bureaucracy. Meanwhile, Mr. Kennedy has been nominated by President Trump to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, and if confirmed, Mr. Trump will give Mr. Kennedy a “passion for health issues” as long as it does not interfere with Mr. Trump’s domestic energy goals. Musk’s social media posts during his vacation attracted attention, considering President Kennedy has expressed opposition to semaglutide. Semaglutide was originally developed as a diabetes treatment, but in recent years it has been widely used for its appetite suppressant effects.

In October, President Kennedy was asked by Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld about his thoughts on the semaglutide drug Ozempic, and he said, “There’s a lot of momentum to sell this to the American people.” “They manufacture this drug in Denmark, but in Denmark they do not recommend it for the treatment of diabetes or obesity. They recommend dietary and behavioral changes.”

“They expect us to sell it to Americans because we’re so stupid and addicted to drugs,” Kennedy added. He also concluded that America’s obesity crisis could be solved “overnight” if Americans had access to and could eat higher quality food.

Weight loss drugs could shake up the food industry

President Kennedy ran on a platform of “making America healthy again,” and Ozempick won’t support that effort, he said. But Musk said “nothing will help improve public health” more than making Ozempic more widely available.

In President Joe Biden’s final days in office, his administration proposed expanding Medicare and Medicaid coverage to make semaglutide more widely available to people who want to benefit from its weight-loss benefits.

President-elect Trump shared a meal at McDonald’s with Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr., Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Donald Trump Jr./X).

In addition to Musk, Kennedy may clash with Dr. Mehmet Oz, Trump’s pick to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, who has also expressed support for drugs such as Ozempic. .

“I think the benefits of these drugs are significant by helping people lose weight and improve their cardiovascular systems. They also may have long-term effects in many other areas where obesity causes inflammation. “There is,” Oz said. in a video posted to his Instagram account last year.

Cheap Ozempic imitations are becoming increasingly popular, but are they safe?

President Kennedy, who could very well become Oz’s boss if both men are confirmed by the Senate, appeared to refrain from criticizing the new weight-loss drug as he sought to drum up support for his nomination from lawmakers.

“The first response should be lifestyle. Eat well and don’t get obese,” Kennedy said in a brief interview with CNBC on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, before saying: Added an anti-government stance. Obesity drugs like Ozempic are “establishing themselves” in the American medical community.
