There have been a number of reports of mysterious drone sightings, and people across the country are seeking information, but the government has not yet given a concrete answer.
The federal government has said the drones are not foreign interference, but has not specified who is behind them or what they are doing.
“Where are these drones coming from?” asked Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.).
When it comes to the mysteries of the sky, it’s the million dollar question.
Since last month, people have reported seeing dozens of drones mysteriously hovering in the night sky. They were first discovered in Gottheimer’s home state.
“It’s just ridiculous that we don’t have more information,” Gottheimer said.
The White House is downplaying drones as a threat as lawmakers demand answers.
“At this time, there is no evidence that reported drone sightings pose a threat to national security or public safety,” said National Security Spokesman John Kirby.
White House officials say the drones do not violate any laws at this time.
“Many of the reported sightings actually appear to be legally operating manned aircraft,” Kirby said.
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan posted on X that he had seen a mysterious drone in the state.
Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett said he understands why no one in his state has reported a sighting.
“Because everyone has a 12 gauge and starts dropping those things,” Burchett said.
