The National Urban League has issued an alarm and claims there is a “state of emergency” in the country.

The organization’s 2025 Black American State report, entitled “The State of Emergency: Democracy, Civil Rights, Progress under Attacks,” aims for the Trump administration.

“Nearly every day, since January 20, 2025, the federal government has set fire to the direction of the White House, igniting policies and sectors that are dedicated to providing private and human rights protection, equal education, fair housing, access to safe and effective healthcare, and ensuring that democratic processes are adhered to nationwide,” the report argues.

White House spokesman Harrison Fields has pushed back a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Though these so-called civil rights groups have gone beyond hatred and division, the president is focused on integrating our nation, improving our economy, securing borders and establishing peace around the world,” Fields said in a statement. “This is the same vision for America, backed by a record number of Black Americans in President Trump’s overwhelming re-election. Democrats sold out black voters to appease a base made up of illegal, pronoun police, purple-haired madman and radical anti-semies.”

“The concept of us living through an emergency is not rhetorical prosperity,” Mark Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League, said in a report. It is an honest calculation with a government that is increasingly determined to accept the truth of a diverse country and sacrifice basics, freedom and justice rather than to provide fair national truth to all.”

The report argues that the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division is “twisted into tools for political retaliation.”

“Under that new leadership, the civil rights sector has been hollowed out and reused. It will transform from a guardian of justice into a tool of political retaliation,” the report argues. “The radicalisation of the DOJ is more than bureaucratic corruption. It is an existential threat to civil rights enforcement, allowing unchecked discrimination to flourish in the false guise of “reverse racism.” ”

House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., and several other US lawmakers, who are on their list of contributors, speak positively about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

“In short, DEI policies don’t just level the playing field for education and employment, they strengthen democracy itself. By expanding opportunities, ensuring fair access to information and creating a leadership pipeline, DEI will help ensure that all Americans can contribute to the future of the country,” the report declares.
