The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expanded its detention center, which has a new facility in southwestern Nebraska, known as the “Cornhuskirk Link.”

As part of President Donald Trump’s push for adding thousands of new beds nationwide for US immigration customs enforcement (ICE), as well as “Alligator Alcatraz” and “Speedway Slammer,” the facility will increase ice detention space for illegal foreigners awaiting deportation or deportation proceedings.

At the same time, the name Cornhusker Clink recognizes the region’s heritage and is located about 200 miles from the state’s capital, Lincoln.

If Congress doesn’t act immediately, the ice withdrawal effort could be derailed

With ice arrests down and data showing withdrawals growing, the new venue is already in place at McCook’s Work Ethics Camp, which was opened as a prison in 2001, with 200 beds and 280.

DHS Executive Director Kristi Noem, who recognized the facility as part of a agreement between Nebraska and the federal government, warned that illegal foreigners in the area could find themselves on Cornhusker Clink.

“To help get rid of the worst and worst in our country, if you’re illegally in America, you can find yourself in Clink, Cornhusker, Nebraska,” she said. “Use the CBP Home App to avoid arrests and self-declaration.”

Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” funds 80,000 new beds that allow ice to be used, helping to increase facilities across the country.

One of the well-known facilities, Alligator Alcatraz, will open in the Florida Everglades, to accommodate up to 3,000 immigrants, and the East Montana Detention Center, outside El Paso, which opened Sunday, can accommodate up to 5,000 people.

The aerial view of the Immigration Detention Center, known as the “Alligator Alcatraz,” will be located on July 7, 2025 at the Dade Collier Training and Transition Airport in O’Coupe, Florida.

Indiana’s “Speedway Slammer” also holds up to 1,000 immigrants.

Back in Nebraska, the National Guard is helping ICE personnel, with around 20 soldiers involved, enforce immigration laws.

In a statement supporting Trump’s immigration crackdown, Nebraska Gov. Jim Piren said “we are pleased that McCook facilities and teams will be tasked with helping our federal partners protect our homeland by living in illegal aliens of criminals roaming our communities today.”
