There is a law in place that requires agents participating in immigration enforcement activities to identify themselves.

Statewide law “reinforces the importance of proper identification during law enforcement actions,” according to a media release from a pair of politicians sponsoring California Sen. Sasha Rene Perez (D-Pasadena) and Pasadena mayor Victor M. Gordo.

“Recent incidents involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officials have created confusion, fear and mistrust in communities across the state,” the release reads. “The Act aims to establish clear and consistent standards and requires officers to identify themselves during enforcement action.”

The press conference held by Perez and Gordo, along with several community organizations, is scheduled for 10am on Monday outside Pasadena City Hall.

The proposed law will involve numerous immigration attacks across Southern California, some of which will be carried out by masked agents who use physical force to detain people.

Some notable cases of rough detention include one incident in Hawthorne on June 12th. In the incident, a pregnant US citizen was pinned to a truck and eventually detained after being handcuffed. The woman, Cary Lopez Alvarado, gave birth four days later. However, she was told that the father of the baby, who was detained alongside Alvarado’s cousin, had been moved to a Texas facility.

Another case included a group of men wearing US border patrol vests that raided him while raiding a man in Orange County. The three US Marine fathers were eventually pushed into the back of an unmarked vehicle.

Agents are also seen chasing local swap meetings, shopping centers and farm workers in Ventura County.
