New details are beginning to emerge surrounding the death of former child actress Sophie Nywide.

Her family announced the loss in a paid online obituary that 24-year-old Nyweide was “self-treated to deal with all the trauma and shame she held inside, which led to her death.”

Authorities did not immediately release any information on what led to the death of the “Mammoth” star. However, a press release issued Wednesday by police in Vermont, Nyweide’s hometown, said he called 911 along with Nyweide to report it was unresponsive around 4am on April 14th.

First responders rushed to Sheen, a wooded area along the banks of the river Rootoda in Bennington, and tried life-saving measures. Nyweide was declared dead at the scene less than an hour after the police call came out, authorities said.

“The individual was with Nywide at the time of her death, but they are working with investigators,” Bennington police said. “The same individual contacted 911 and summoned Nyweide’s support.”

The cause of death was not announced, but police said they were investigating Nywide’s death as “a possible unintended overdose.”

TMZ reported that Nyweide was pregnant when she died, citing the death certificate they obtained. However, authorities did not mention that she was pregnant.

According to Nyweide’s IMDB page, her first role occurred in the 2006 film “Bella,” and later in her career she appeared in films such as “Mammoth” and “An Invisible Sign.” In 2014, she appeared on “Noah,” with her final credits appearing as herself in ABC’s “What shall I do?”

Nyweide’s mother was Shelly Gibson, who appeared in “All My Children,” “Dust to Malibu,” and “St. otherswore.”
