Almost two years after the 18-year-old was shot in San Bernardino, police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Eric Gomez was filmed on the night of September 4th, 2023 in the 2100 block of North Sierraway and had little lead until now.
That night, officials from the San Bernardino Police Station answered a 911 call around 9:48pm and discovered Gomez was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
“The victim was sitting in a car parked along the west curb of North Sierraway when the dark-colored sedan was driven,” SBPD detective Letamoza said. “The suspect left the vehicle and fired several rounds at the vehicle, struck the victim.”
Gomez was taken to hospital where he was declared dead, Retamoza said.
No arrests have been made in 20 months since Gomez was shot and killed. However, on Thursday, police released new details revealed from surveillance footage recently reviewed.
Police say the video shows a Hispanic man approaching the victim’s car in a black hoodie and gray shorts before the shooting. He then saw the area remain in a black sedan.

Investigators believe the man may be the one who shot the 18-year-old or have some connection to the murder.
At this time, there is no known motive for the murder of Gomez, a resident of San Bernardino. Police released some of the images from new surveillance footage on the department Instagram page on Thursday.
