BP Pulse celebrated Tuesday the unveiling of a new electric vehicle that will recharge the Gigahub near Los Angeles International Airport.
The UK-based company has installed 48 new super-fast chargers at its Inglewood Hub. The charger is the BP Pulse brand and is part of the company’s extensive efforts to improve the infrastructure of EV drivers in high traffic travel hubs.
According to Martin Thomsen, head of BP Pulse, the site can be used as a safe place to rest, or go to the toilet. On-site amenities include lounges, vending machines, toilets and free Wi-Fi.
“People need to come, people travel, people need to be fine,” Tomsen said. “And this is an example.”
Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse, said at a press conference that he is trying to build an EV charging network across the US.
“We are building sites across airports, highway locations, American travel centres, franchises, and brand stations at BP, AMOCO and Horton.
Tuesday’s launch will work with Hertz to build on previously announced plans by BP Pulse to build more charging hubs near North American airports and other high-demand regions.
According to a September 2022 press release on the company’s website, Hertz and BP have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a national network of EV charging stations.
In April, the company also opened Gigahub near Boston Logan Airport.
