New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ top adviser suddenly resigned Sunday amid a federal investigation into corruption and bribery charges against Adams.
Counselor Ingrid Lewis-Martin had her cellphone seized and her home searched as part of the investigation. She released a lengthy statement about her departure with Adams on Sunday, saying she planned to spend more time with her family.
“To Mayor Eric Adams, my political partner, brother, and friend: Thank you for going back to 2004, seeking me out, and asking me to work on your Senate campaign. “Thank you for looking at what’s inside me,” Lewis Martin said.
“I humbly thank you for encouraging me to be who I am and for pushing me through the tough times. As you say, this has been a good experience. I use the author’s license. “I just want to say this was a great ride.” she added.

“Ingrid was not only a friend, confidant, and trusted advisor, but also a sister. We have always talked about when this day would come and have been planning it for a long time. “But it’s still hard to know, ‘Ingrid isn’t next to me every day,'” Adams said.
“I and all New Yorkers have a debt of gratitude to her for her decades of service to our city. Now she can spend more time with her granddaughter. And today he proved that as mayor of New York City, he cares more about public safety than politics. I wish the Mayor of Chicago and the Sun all the best.” I would like you to read the scenario of City Council Mayor Diego, Governor Pritzker, and Mayor Eric Adams. ”
Mr. Homan recalled how the “former police officer” emerged from Mr. Adams during a private meeting in New York on Thursday.
