The New York Post is heading west.
The tabloid is scheduled to release the California Post in early 2026, and the publication was announced on Monday.
“Los Angeles and California certainly need daily posts as an antidote to the sadly expanding yellowund’s disgusting journalism,” Robert Thomson, CEO of News Corporation, the paper’s parent company, said in a statement.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, the new venture will feature a dedicated newsroom that includes editors, reporters and photographers, covering news, entertainment, politics, culture, sports and business from a California perspective.
Daily print editions and dedicated digital platforms serve statewide readers, complemented by national and international coverage from the New York team.
Nick Papps has been appointed editor. He has nearly 20 years of experience and previously served as West Coast Correspondent for News Corporation Australia while based in Los Angeles.
The California expansion is as the state is preparing to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. The 2026 election cycle, which includes the governor’s competition, is also on the horizon.
According to the New York Post, the Los Angeles region alone, has 3.5 million monthly unique visitors across California, with 7.3 million. The state already represents the second largest digital leadership base for posts outside of New York.
Post Digital Network, which includes Nypost.com, Pagesix.com and Decider.com, also attracted 90 million unique visitors in June, with around 90% of its digital audience living outside the New York market.
Founded by Alexander Hamilton in 1801, the New York Post moved to tabloid format in the mid-1900s. Rupert Murdoch acquired the publication in 1976 as part of his first expansion into the American media industry.
