California Gov. Gavin Newsom secretly supported his bronze busts inside San Francisco City Hall, responding to claims that he called them “categorically false.”
“This effort is decisively false to imply that the governor has personally provided or proposed,” a Newsom spokesman said in a statement in Fox News Digital. “As customary in the city, this effort was proposed independently by a nonprofit organization and funded by private donors rather than taxpayers. This was reported at the time and is not news now.”
A new book written by Susan Crabtree and Jed McFatta, entitled “The Fool’s Gold: Killing California’s Dreams and Now Threatening All of us,” claims that it used what is called “Radicals, Criminals, and Traitors.”
The book claims that the two Newsom-owned companies donate roughly $10,000 to nonprofits to help pay Bronzebusts, which aims to commemorate Newsom’s time as city mayor.

“Companies associated with the Newsom family have made modest contributions to privately funded initiatives, as publicly reported at the time, and raised funds for their efforts,” said Newsom’s Office. “The contribution was by no means a ‘secret’, as some have now falsely argued. ”
In 2015, San Francisco news outlet SFGATE reported that Newsom called Bust “something strange,” quoting him as saying, “I’m nasty about it…but now the word is out.”
Newsom told SFGate that Bust was the brainchild of his supporters, which will be paid out in private funds. According to the outlet, Newsom said he didn’t even know who the supporters and fundraisers were.
The outlet also reported that Newsom had been sitting in the bust multiple times with artist Bruce Wolf. The work was completed in 2018, according to the San Francisco Arts Committee.

Newsom’s office continued to blow up the book itself, telling Fox News Digital.
“This publication must come with a free Tinfoil Hat, a lifetime subscription to Infowars, and a VIP dinner with Elvis Presley and Bigfoot. The author appears to be allergic to basic facts.
Crabtree, one of the authors of the book, told Fox News Digital that the book does not claim that the news organized the Bust and that they do not support reports on the project.

According to the San Francisco Arts Committee, the bust contains bronze plaques with the following quote from Newsom:
“If you distill all the essences, what is life, we are all given a brief moment on this planet, and we all have one universal need and desire. It is love and be loved.”
Newsom’s Office also pointed out that his busts were sitting next to several other busts of the former mayor, including Willie Brown, Diane Feinstein and George Moscon.
Naturally, the internet exploded with reactions to busts.
