Lovers of Los Angeles legend Nipesy Hustle are expanding his brand with the launch of Marathon Burger, a brick-and-mortar store located on Melrose Avenue in LA’s Fairfax district.
What began as a pop-up bloomed in a fully established eatery that celebrated its grand opening on Saturday. Menu items include several burgers and sandwiches, milkshakes and hot wings. It’s all part of Heizl, whose real name is Elmias Asgedom, built with his marathon brand.
Samiel “Black Sam” Asgedom, the brother of the late rapper, said he and his team were inspired to pursue a burger industry venture after going on a Smash Burger Tour. He said he noticed the ingredients they enjoy most from the various facilities and felt the need to create their own.
“…The idea came like a guy. You need to create a marathon burger and want to do it with the best ingredients,” he said. “When the idea came, the team said, ‘It’s fine, we need to make this happen.’ So, all measures were taken to take us here in the end. ”
The team boasts fresh ingredients to prevent the use of frozen items. Pickles are made at home, as well as vegan pate for meat-free people. Additionally, the milkshakes in the marathon burger are made with ice cream about rif.
“Everything you’ve got here is made to be the best, so we took the time to bring in all our organic products,” Samiel said.
The jump into the restaurant industry is part of an effort to celebrate Hustle’s ambitions to expand his brand.
“The marathon concept my siblings created is long-term, journey, vision. It doesn’t happen fast, it slows down,” Samiel said. “This is another venture into the brand, and being able to participate in food for the marathon brand is important. The goal is to become a lifestyle brand. So, definitely this is in Hustle’s vision and we are all proud to be able to submit this marathon burger to Melrose.”
The famous rapper launched his marathon brand with his mixtape in 2010. This shares the same name. He was murdered on March 31, 2019. He was killed after a gunman shot him in marathon clothing, the parking lot of his store. His legacy continues to have the effect of his activities that helped his music, local organizations and his brand.
The Marathon Burger is open daily from 7am to 3am and is located at 7507 Melrose Avenue, 90046 Los Angeles.
