When Democrats sparked criticism on social media on Monday, she told crew chief Elon Musk to “return to South Africa” and asked what “hell” he’s doing in the US.
“What was interesting yesterday was that I was watching a video of an interview with Elon Musk with someone who said Italians should stay in Italy, so the Chinese said they should stay in China. Democrat Nizia Velazquez (NY) said outside the HUD division on Monday evening.
“Back to South Africa,” said Velazquez.
Velazquez repeated the claims promoted on social media about an interview with Elon Musk in 2023.

Born in Puerto Rico, Velazquez added that the battle with Doge was “a battle for the soul of our nation.”
Social media conservatives have blown up Velázquez over comments on the situation of mask immigration.
“Hinged,” posted on X by House Speaker Mike Johnson’s quick response director Bobby Laverly.
“Completely unhinged…”, the White House Rapid Response Team was added to X’s post.
“Elon has ruined their brains so much that Democrats are now embracing naturalism,” White House Rapid Response’s Greg Price posted on X.
“Needia Velazquez finally found an immigrant he disliked,” Jeremy Carl, senior fellow at the Claremont Institute, posted on X.

“Imagine if Republicans say this about liberals,” right-turn strategy Chris Baron posted on X.
Fox News Digital has contacted Velazquez’s office for comment.
Velazquez was gathering outside the Had building, claiming that they are cutting back on programs essential to Americans’ everyday needs in the latest protests of mask doge efforts they claim to be advancing criticisms promoted by the Trump administration.

Controversial comments follow similar sentiments expressed by the DEM. Last week, Senator Mercy Kapter questioned Musk’s loyalty to the United States because of his immigrant status.
“Musk has been in the last 22 years,” Captor said on Wednesday outside Capitol in a comment hit by conservatives. “And he’s a citizen of three countries. I always say when the push sticks out about the damage he’s doing here, which country is “South Africa? Canada? Canada? Or the US?”
