Protesters were not arrested overnight Sunday since Los Angeles enacted a temporary curfew in parts of downtown Los Angeles.
This is the first night that no arrests have been recorded since the remorse protest began on Saturday, June 7th, following immigration attacks at three workplaces in downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department also said a total of 575 people have been arrested during the protests since June 7th, and 14 have been detained for looting.
This was a major change from the Saturday to Sunday period, with 35 people arrested on suspicion of not disbanding, and one arrested another on suspicion of resisting, obstructing or delaying delays.
Police said crowd control operations again involve the use of many less lethal rounds for the Saturday to Sunday period.
Ten LAPD officials were injured while trying to suppress the protest, but the department said without revealing the severity of the injury.
LAPD added that it remains in tactical alerts across the city.
Mayor Karen Bass has not said the night curfew, which will be effective from 8pm to 6am in the 1-square mile area of downtown LA, will expire.
In an interview with NBC Los Angeles, Bass said the curfew is increasingly effective despite limiting hours for LA Business’ downtown.
The mayor also said he doesn’t know when night restrictions will be lifted as U.S. troops sent by the Trump administration remain in Southern California.
“Part of the challenge we’re dealing with here is absolute uncertainty,” Bass said. “I hope that some level of communication will be opened next week. Now everyone is working through rumors.”
