A norovirus outbreak has been reported at the Pasadena evacuation center, officials confirmed.
The Pasadena Department of Public Health announced Friday morning that three cases of norovirus were confirmed at the Pasadena Convention Center shelter. These three diagnoses emerged as a group of 28 people battled acute gastrointestinal illness.

Since Jan. 10, the American Red Cross has been operating a shelter designed to house Eaton Fire victims who have lost their homes or been forced to evacuate.
This winter, norovirus infections are rapidly increasing across the United States. Symptoms include acute vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps, according to PPHD. Dehydration can occur even in young patients.
Norovirus is primarily spread by sharing food, utensils, and water. PPHD said such diseases tend to spread in evacuation centers due to crowded living conditions.
PPHD said shelter workers are ensuring those who become ill are isolated and working with local medical teams from Kaiser Permanente and Altamed to provide necessary medical assistance.
