Dell. Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents Washington, D.C. in the House, cannot vote to pass legislation, but she said she wanted reelection, but her office returned her comments.
NBC News’ Sahil Kapur said in a post on X on Wednesday that Norton “Yeah, I’m going to run for reelection.”
However, Axios reported that Norton spokesman Sharon Nichols told the outlet “No decisions have been made. She doesn’t want to run, but she is still in discussion with the people closest to her.”
The same type of backped occurred earlier this month. Kapur said in a post on June 10th of X, Norton said she was going to run.

However, according to Axios, her office walked back Norton’s comments. Nichols reported that Norton said “I want to run again, but she will have conversations with family, friends and closest advisors to decide what’s best.”
In a statement after she said she was running, Norton said, “Through thoughtful discussions with friends, family and closest advisors, I am still considering options for the next election cycle.”

Fox News Digital contacted Norton’s office Thursday morning.
Norton, who just turned 88 this month, has been DC representative in the House since 1991.

“D.C. Representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives (now Eleanor Holmes Norton) can sit on the committee and vote, introduce legislation, and participate in legislative debates, but she cannot vote for bills that will be considered at home,” states Statehood.DC.Gov.
