Yet another Santa Ana wind phenomenon is expected to descend on the Los Angeles area early this week, with weather officials issuing a fire weather watch.
“Moderate to locally strong” winds developed in Santa Ana on Monday and are expected to continue through at least Tuesday, according to the NWS. At the same time, humidity will also drop significantly, further increasing the risk of severe fire weather conditions with already extremely dry fuels.
A fire weather watch was in place for most of Ventura and Los Angeles counties until at least Tuesday. But the weather agency said a “probable decision” to change the watch to a red flag warning would be made this weekend.

“Dry conditions will continue into next Friday, with additional offshore currents likely to strengthen, which may necessitate a red flag warning beyond Tuesday,” NWS officials said.
According to the National Weather Service, a fire weather watch is a “look statement” about the possibility of a red flag warning being issued in the coming days.
