New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul brought about a fundraiser of about $12 million in the first half of this year.
But Hochul’s fundraising report released Monday is due to the governor continuing to face inactive votes and regular attacks from two Republican challengers in next year’s election.
The funding report also arises amid a call from her party’s far left leadership to support former third-year Gov. Andrew Cuomo and nine other candidates, democratic socialist Zoran Mamdani, who took the lead last month to win the Democratic mayoral appointment of New York City.
According to her campaign, Hochul won over $11.8 million and in July showed grassroots donations from all counties in the state.

Of the funds raised, more than $4 million will be sent to Hochul’s reelection campaign, with more than $7 million heading to the New York Democratic Committee, according to campaign aides.
The latest fundraiser has risen slightly from the $10 million Hochul filed for the reelection campaign and the state Democratic committee late last year.
“In the last six months, we’ve seen Gov. Kathy Hochul fight Donald Trump and make real progress towards safer and more affordable New York, supporting grassroots support from every county in the state,” campaign manager Preston Elliott said in a statement.

“While DC Republicans are peeling off New Yorkers’ healthcare, our campaign is building a strategy to not only re-elect Gov. Hochul, but rather to elect and elect a home to stand up to New York families rather than caves for Trump,” Elliott added.
Hochul, then the state’s lieutenant governor, was sworn in as New York’s first female governor in August 2021 after Cuomo resigned in disgrace amid multiple scandals.

She beat the rep of the time. Lee Zeldin scored four years of New York steering in 2022, surpassing just six points. Zeldin’s show was the best in Blue State New York by a Republican governor candidate since GOP Gov. George Pataki won his third term reelection in 2002.
Last July, Hochul announced his intention to run for reelection in 2026, but polls suggest that New Yorkers are not excited by the state’s state.
According to a Siena University poll conducted later last month, the majority of voters in New York want “someone else” next year, except for the governor who Hochul was elected next year.
Hochul faces major challenges from her own lieutenant governor
Half of those questioned in the survey said New York was heading in the wrong direction, with only 37% saying the Empire State is on the right track. According to the poll, Hochul’s favor ratings remained underwater at 42%-47%, with job approval rates continuing to hover slightly in the positive territory at 50%-45%.
The poll also shows that Hochul has put potential Republican challengers on top of 20 points in a possible 20-point governor showdown in New York, which has a blue trend. However, Hochul failed to top 50% in any matchup.

The survey also continues to show that Rep. Elise Stefanik is a vote on the ballot among three key Republicans considering running a GOP governor nomination in the race to challenge Hochul next year. According to the poll, Rep. Mike Lawler was second in the rankings.
Stefanik and Roller are very vocal in Hochul’s criticism.
Hochul’s lieutenant governor – Antonio Delgado – launched a major Democrat challenge to the governor last month. However, the latest poll shows Delgado is facing a steep climb to win the Democratic governor’s nomination.

Meanwhile, progressive leaders are urging New York’s Hochul and other top Democratic officials to support Mamdani, a 33-year-old Ugandan-born state legislator from Queens.
Mamdani’s major victory last month surprised the political world, taking him a major step to become the first Muslim mayor of the country’s most populous city.
Hochul praises Mamdani for his main victory and its emphasis on campaign trails on affordable prices.

The governor also recently defended Mamdani against President Donald Trump’s threat to take over New York City if democratic socialists are elected mayor.
“Voters decide who runs New York City. Not Washington, certainly not king,” Hochul wrote in a social media post.
However, she continues to express concern over Mamdani’s anti-Israel rhetoric and his stance on policing.

At a press conference Friday, the governor stressed that if Mamdani becomes New York City’s next mayor, he “is concerned about what will happen at the police station.”
“Everyone is worried about what will happen to the city police,” Hochur said.
