New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is facing a new Democratic challenger to replace Eric Adams with the mayor of New York, according to reports.
New York City Council speaker Adrian Adams, 64, will officially launch a campaign at the rally over the weekend with every report from FOX 5 NYC.
With the Democratic primary just four months away, Adams is planning to petition to ensure access to the vote soon.
In a statement to the media outlet, Adams said New Yorkers could not afford to live in the city, city hall was “a mix,” and President Donald Trump claimed that “the independence of our city is corrupting.”

“It’s time to stand up. I wasn’t going to run for mayor, but I haven’t given up on New York City,” Adams said in a statement.

First elected to the city council in 2017, Adams became his first Black Council speaker five years later.

Adams is the latest famous man who throws his hat into the ring, challenging the runner in front of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, replacing NYC mayor Eric Adams.
Cuomo resigned in 2021 after a report released by the state attorney general concluded that he sexually harassed almost 12 women.

Cuomo apologized for “ridden” women he intended to agree with, and although he sometimes admitted that he was “too familiar” to people, he denied touching anyone inappropriately, saying that the investigation into his conduct was flawed and politically motivated.

The race comes after he was charged in September with federal corruption charges. He is now dealing with the vehement criticism after asking Trump’s newly established Justice Department leader to drop the case to the court, allowing Adams to help the federal government crack down on immigration.
