A New York City gunman shot and killed four people on Monday, including a police officer.
The fatal mass shooting unfolds around 6:30pm inside a midtown Manhattan office building, houses the National Football League and the country’s top financial companies.
The surveillance cameras captured a shooter identified as Shane Tamura, a now Nevada resident, and left the double-carved BMW with an M4 rifle. Upon entering the building, Tamura shot and killed a woman trying to shoot NYPD officials and “sprayed” the lobby in the shooting, city officials said at a press conference.
He reportedly took one of them to the 33rd floor after hiding near the elevator bank and shooting security guards.
Authorities have a documented history of mental health issues and reportedly had a hidden carry permit in Nevada, Tamra attended Golden Valley High School and Granada Hills Charter High School in Santa Clarita.
Shane Tamra was seen in surveillance footage before a fatal rampage inside a Manhattan office building on July 28, 2025, which left five people dead in police officers and gunman himself. In 2017, the then-teenager at Granada Hills Charter was interviewed by the Los Angeles Daily News after the outlet described it as a thrilling victory over John F. Kenny High School.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation by NYC Police Commissioner Jessica Tish telling reporters that she is working to figure out why investigators targeted that particular location.
This developing story will be updated as additional details become available.
