Exclusive: NYC Republican Councillor Inna Vernikov spoke to Fox News Digital about the outlook that New York City is run by socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
“I think that’s a very dangerous situation we’re in. I think we’re looking at a lawless, chaotic city,” Vanikov told Fox News Digital when asked what New York City would look like if Mamdani won in November.
“I think we’re going to see a lot of wealthy people and middle class fleeing New York City.”
Vanikov, born in the Soviet Union and a child who came to America, told Fox News Digital that he remembers standing for a bottle of milk with his grandfather, and that he compared Mamdani’s policy with communist Russia.

“Think about going to the DMV. Think about going anywhere. Remember how much deficit and incompetence you see to go to any of these institutions. That’s what Mamdani wants to do in New York City.” “He wants a government-run supermarket. It completely rebuts and is completely against what America should be. America was built on the free market economy, the free market of ideas, meritocracy and capitalism ideas, competition. Capitalism is not perfect, but it is based on the idea of competition.”
Vernikov added that under Mamdani, New York City would in her opinion be “dangerous”, “chaotic”, “lawless”.
Mamdani met with Hakeum Jeffries, the leader of New York’s minority on Friday. Democrats are still being forced to support Mamdani despite past controversial comments about economics, Israel and the police.
Mamdani Sparks Firestorm, who has expressed his comments on the abolition of private property: “He is a communist.”

Many experts, including those who spoke to Fox News Digital earlier this month, suggested that Mamdani’s victory would trigger a Democrat’s calculations.
“There is no way for moderately centric Democrats to lead socialism, the cultural revolution and lush welfare state to bankruptcy and work with the goals of Middle East fascist terrorists,” former Democrat attorney general Julian Epstein told Fox News Digital. “So, if he wins, it may not only continue to sink the party’s national brand, but it could, as we know today, portend the party’s final dissolution.”

Vernikov reflected that sentiment in Fox News Digital, saying Mamdani is “Democrats today.”
“The problem with Democrats is that it’s no longer JFK’s Democrats,” Vernikov said. “It’s the AOC and all the militant Democrats. It’s fundamentally moving to the left, and many Democrats are in this position. Do we support this guy or are we separated from this guy?
Fox News Digital has contacted Mamdani’s comment campaign.
