Until she read about it in the newspaper, the former patient said she also found herself victimized by a well-known OB-Gyn doctor.
“Everything I read was happening to me, which made me get goosebumps. I started relating the event,” said the woman who chose to remain anonymous.
The woman identified as “Jane Doe #4” is one of the 65 women who are part of the latest lawsuit against Dr. Barry Brock, a well-known OB-Gyn doctor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The lawsuit allegedly stated that Dr. Brock had performed unnecessary and inappropriate vaginal and breast examinations without gloves, made sexually recharged statements, conducted the trials without chaperones, and used his authority to exploit patients.
“You shouldn’t do that much breast exam, I was just lying there and he put his hands on his legs and started talking and rubbing his legs.
Martin Gould, the plaintiff’s lawyer, says the doctor’s actions continued for years.
“Make comments, sexual indications, over and over again. I rub the patient’s thighs, unnecessary vagina and breast examinations.
The lawsuit alleges that Cedars Sinai was aware of the complaint and did nothing.
“And we hope that no investigation has been done or that Dr. Brock has been given a total difference and that the investigation has been on fire,” Gould said.
Dozens of other women also filed lawsuits on separate legal actions.
“Hopefully this will make a difference in how things are routine, so we can make a difference in the future so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else,” said Jane Daw #4.
Dr. Brock has since denied the allegations.
In a statement, Cedars Sinai wrote:
“The types of actions he asserts about Dr. Barry Brock oppose Cedars’ Sinai’s core values and the trust he strives to earn money every day with his patients. Dr. Brock has no privilege to report this issue to the California Medical Board.
The NBCLA reached out to Dr. Brock for comment but did not respond.
