Officials with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident involved an offending deputy and said the deputies were placed on paid administrative leave, according to Carrie Brown, director of official duties and community engagement. Brown’s statement was shared with KTLA after Tustin Police Department spokesman and Sergeant. Gerald McCann said he has the authority to release only the details.
Shaw is the correctional health services chief for the county health care agency and worked for six years at intake centers that serve inmates who have been booked recently in the prison system, mainly for six years.
In a note to staff, Healthcare Agency Director Veronica Kelly wrote that the show “loss is deeply felt by those who know her through all levels of the HCA and the county family.” The county said mental health services are now available to employees.
Authorities have not revealed what led to the shooting.
