High levels of bacteria have led the Los Angeles County Public Health to issue seawater use warnings for multiple county beaches.
Officials are encouraging beach fans to avoid swimming, surfing and playing in the ocean at:
100 yards up and down the coast from Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, 100 yards up and down the coast from Pico Kenter Storm Drain in Santa Monica Beach near the South Tower, 100 yards up and down the coast, and the entire swimming area at Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey
But that’s not all bad news. The inside Cabrillo Beach warning has been lifted since the water quality has improved.
Ocean Water Advisory is effective in areas affected by recent wildfires, from Las Flores Beach to Santa Monica State Beach.
Beach fans have access to the sand, but authorities advise against visible fire debris and staying out of the water until further notice.
Residents can get more information about the condition of the beach by calling the County Beach Hotline at 1-800-525-5662 or by visiting the LA County Public Health website.
