Police said Monday they had arrested one of two men suspected of stabbing their brother and sister in Santa Monica over the weekend.
The attack occurred early on Saturday morning. According to the sisters, she and her brothers and friends went out on a late-night adventure to the beach and soaked their toes in the water.
The 28-year-old sister told KTLA that she arrived at the beach around 1am, demanding that her name be kept secret, but before she reached the sand she noticed two men who appeared to be riding a scooter on the boardwalk.
The sister felt she was suspicious, but they continued their night anyway. But later they noticed the same man again – but this time they seemed to approach her group.
The two men were eventually told they approached her and her 24-year-old brother and began verbally harassing them. The sister said her brother was trying to protect her, his girlfriend and her other friends during the conflict.
She said it escalated and the man began to pull out a pocket knife and threaten him. At one point, the group’s sisters and others were able to record the suspects, and she shared some footage with the KTLA.

The sister asked the two men to leave her and her brother alone, but the suspect didn’t listen, instead physically attacking both with a knife and charged in. After the attack, the group was able to escape safely, and the suspect was allegedly fled.
The Santa Monica Police Department said that within two minutes of officers calling at 2:26am, they arrived in the 1700 block of Ocean Front Walk and found two brothers with stab wounds. My sister said she was stabbed four times – on her head, her back and under her armpits. Her brother was stabbed five times and hit his stomach and back.
Both brothers were taken to hospital. The sister was released Sunday and recovered at home, but as of Monday the brothers remained in hospital and police said he was critical but in a stable state.
His sister said he was expected to stay in the hospital for at least a week.
Police arrested the first suspect identified as the 20-year-old Ivan Angel Plan Cult of San Gabriel on Monday, April 21st, and charged him with attempted murder. He is being held on $1 million bail.
