TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WRBL) – An early morning shooting on Tuskegee University’s campus left one person dead and several others injured, casting a dark cloud over the school’s 100th homecoming celebration.
School officials said the victim was not a student at Tuskegee University in Alabama, but a family member was notified.
“Several others, including Tuskegee University students, were injured and are being treated at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery,” the university’s statement said.

The shooting occurred on campus as the historically black college’s 100th Homecoming Week was coming to an end.
Videos posted on social media showed what appeared to be participants in a homecoming celebration taking shelter with friends amid a barrage of gunfire.
Emergency responders are on scene, joined by campus security and local law enforcement.

Additional details were not immediately available. The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating.
Tuskegee University said it is committed to completing its student accountability investigation, notifying parents and providing further updates as the investigation unfolds.
