A three-car collision in the Elysian Valley killed a man and injured four other people in critical condition on Saturday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded to reports of a massive crash in the 2400 block of Riverside Drive at 12:29pm.
Police and units from the LA Fire Station arrived and found three cars and five patients at the scene.
The paramedics declared one person identified only as a 30-year-old man who died at the scene. Two other patients, a 69-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were quickly transported in dangerous conditions.
The last two patients, a 34-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and refused to transport the hospital after being assessed on the scene.
LAPD asked the community to avoid the area if possible, while the fatal crash was under investigation. There was no immediate information available regarding what could have led to the conflict.
This is a developing story.
