An Orange County inmate died during his hospitalization Sunday, officials confirmed.
The OC Sheriff’s Office said the 72-year-old inmate was booked on March 9, 2019 at Theo Lacy Facility, the largest security prison.
Westminster police were arrested for attempted murder at the age of 72, arson to the structure/home where the person was inhabited, arson, causing serious physical injuries and aggravated the arson before it was fired.
Three years after his arrest, authorities determined that on September 9, 2022, inmates would need to be transported to hospital for further treatment.
The inmate remained hospitalized until he was declared dead at about 9:17am on February 9, 2025.
“There are no suspicious circumstances in advance,” the Sheriff’s Department said. “The ultimate cause of death is determined according to an independent autopsy and toxicology.”
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will investigate the death of a in-law, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a supervised death review.
The Sheriff’s Department said no additional information was available as of Monday afternoon.
