Harpoon Henry’s, a beloved addition to the Port of Dana Point since 1975, will close at the end of January 2025, port management announced Tuesday.
Robert Mardian Jr., owner and founder of the upscale seafood restaurant and event venue, informed employees of the decision on Nov. 29.
The closure comes as the Port of Dana Point prepares for the third phase of a major redevelopment project. The project is expected to begin in summer 2025 and be completed by fall 2026.
“We know how much this facility means to the community, and we invite everyone to come celebrate their final season with the team at Harpoon Henry,” Bryon Ward of Dana Point Harbor Partners said in a news release. I encourage you to have it.”
Administrators say the redevelopment will feature seven “architecturally distinctive” buildings totaling approximately 100,000 square feet, 50 new shops and restaurants, and space for outdoor seating and pop-up stores. .
“While it is bittersweet that a fan favorite chooses to close early as we prepare to improve the port experience, we understand the balance between current and future business needs and are confident that we will be able to operate as soon as possible. “We respect each owner’s decision as to what is best to downsize,” Ward added. Discussions continue regarding the possibility of relocating the restaurant.
Dana Point Harbors said it will seek to minimize disruption to existing restaurants and stores during construction by offering free shuttle service, free parking, additional signage and a special event program.
