Chicago Cubs fans pride themselves on being the underdog, a role that took a short time to win the World Series in 2016 and end the 107 year drought between championships.
They were at their Tokyo home, facing the Los Angeles Dodgers and Megastar Shohai Otani, and held the regular season of major league baseball. Chicago dropped the first game 4-1 and allowed Otani Homer in a 6-3 loss in the second game.
Dodgers fans easily surpassed Cubs fans 10-1 at Tokyo Dome. On a pure interest level, Otani was probably 60-70% of the sell-out draw, with the Cubs and Dodgers splitting the rest.
“That’s what makes the Cubs so great. We’re always the future team,” said Cubs fans who enter the theme bar at the Cubs Dome Complex, Cubs fans filled with Cubs logos and memorabilia, and dozens of other Chicago fans.

“I feel it was forever,” Varavanis added, citing his return efforts to win the 2016 World Series.

I often attended Cubs batting practice. However, the Dodgers’ batting practice was a sight of hundreds of photographers, reporters and video journalists dyeing Otani and his two Japanese teammates, pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Lokisaki.
The Cubs have two Japanese players. It designates Imanaga, the pitcher’s looter, and Suzuki, the designated batter. They were not noticed. But they’re not the Dodgers.
“What did they (the Dodgers) spend – $3, 4, 5 billion,” said Zach’s brother Alex Varavanis. “I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up that pace, but we’ll see.”

Cubs manager Craig Counsel kept it simple. He said that being a very well-known aftermarket comes with the territory.
“We’re playing the World Championship, and we’re looking forward to that in that respect,” he said. “We play against some of the world’s most famous players, so we look forward to that from that perspective.”
“When you’re a world champion, you can enjoy that loot, and that’s fair to me,” he added.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts kept his explanation even easier.
“Overall, I think there are still some ball clubs that share the same historical lore,” he said. “But baseball, much of it, is cyclical, so our hope is that we can continue to ride this culmination as the Dodgers.
“I think it’s more distorted because of the shoe hei. And there’s nothing against other Japanese players,” added Roberts. “But Shohei is exactly the beast of this whole equation.”
