EXCLUSIVE: Republican governors across the country have expressed “overwhelming support” for President-elect Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency, better known by its acronym DOGE.

In a letter to legislative leaders first shared on Fox News on Friday, the governors said they fully support DOGE and emphasized the importance of balancing the federal budget.

“As state administrators, we know a thing or two about streamlining government, eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy, and bringing efficient, results-oriented solutions to state government. We support President Trump as he seeks to do the same with the federal government,” the governors said.

Days after winning the presidential election in November, Trump nominated Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, and former Republican presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswami to helm DOGE.

The House created an oversight subcommittee, and the Senate formed a DOGE caucus to work with Musk and Ramaswamy.

The governors said, “Our state is successful because we live within our means. We balance our budgets, cut taxes, and leverage our surpluses.” “We are paying down our debt, improving the efficiency of state government, and creating an environment in which our citizens can build a prosperous future.” For yourself, your family, and your community. ”

And they said, “It’s past time for Washington to live within its means. We support President Trump’s appointments of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, and we need to reduce the size of the federal government.” I agree with their claims. We are ready.” Help. ”

The letter was led by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Republican Governors Association (RGA) policy chair, and was also signed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, RGA chair, and 24 other Republican governors. .

Of the 27 Republican governors, only Vermont Governor Phil Scott did not sign the letter. Despite being a long-time member of the RGA, Scott has a history of not attaching his name to many of his letters.

The letter was sent a day after a number of Republican governors dined with President Trump at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida.
