The Oxnard man, who served time for child abuse in the late 1980s, was sentenced to 480 years in prison on Monday after prosecutors said he had spent nearly 10 years since his family sexually assaulted two young children after his release.
Last month, ju judges discovered that 68-year-old Marcelino Arias Alca, 68, was found guilty of six felony charges leading to children. The ju judge also found the special allegations of multiple casualties true, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
Court records show that ARCA has admitted other special allegations of prior strike convictions for abuse that contributed to his long sentence. Prosecutors say Arca was convicted of child abuse in 1988 but did not provide details about the case.
“Descends ago, the defendant went to prison to sexually abuse a child. When given a second chance, he chose not to change. Instead, he sexually abused two more children. Atty. Ben Moreno said in a statement. “The sentence reflects the serious and lasting harm he caused, and sends a clear message that child sexual abuse is not tolerated, especially by repeated offenders.”
ARCA was arrested in 2022 after authorities said they abused two children under the age of 14 between 2005 and 2014. The abuse was not revealed until several years later when he reported it to his family, prosecutors said.
“I commend the two victims for the incredible courage to move forward and face abusers,” Moreno said. “Because of their courage, this defendant will never have the opportunity to hurt the child again.”
