Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), says the Trump administration plans to invest more than $200 billion in “more dollars” in Medicaid following the passage of “one big beautiful bill.”
“I am trying to raise my hands to them in this beautiful program, this noble endeavor, to help people,” Oz told CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday.
“And perhaps when you come together, if Medicaid can’t care for the people it was designed for, the young children, the dawn of their lives, the people who are the twilight of their lives, the seniors, and the people who live in the shadows, as Hubert Humphrey said, we do not meet the fundamental duties of moral government,” he continued.
Oz, the 17th manager of CMS, said the government wants a “good return” on Medicaid investment. He added that work is being done by the government to address differences in drug costs between the US and Europe and lower drug prices.

Last week, the Trump administration announced it would launch a new program that would allow Americans to share personal health data and medical records in health systems and apps run by private, high-tech companies, promising that this will make health records easier and health monitoring easier.
The CMS is responsible for maintaining the system, and the authorities say they need to choose to share medical records and data to keep patients safe.

These staff said they would benefit from a system that allows patients to quickly call their records without distinctive difficulties, such as using fax machines to share documents that had prevented them from doing so in the past.
“We’re making significant advances in how consumers can use their records,” Oz said at a White House event.

The CMS already has information on more than 140 million Americans registered with Medicare and Medicaid. Earlier this month, federal agencies agreed to hand over a large database containing their country’s addresses to deportees.
