Rogers died in a plane crash in 1935. The house was later donated to the state in 1944 by his widow Betty.
Other lost structures include the Topanga Ranch Motel, built in 1929 by William Randolph Hearst and soon to be redeveloped, the park staff residence, and about 30 other structures whose uses are currently unspecified. Included.

The Palisades Fire started Tuesday morning and quickly spread to homes and other buildings. As of Wednesday afternoon, the fire was estimated at 15,800 acres. Hundreds of buildings burned.
