Palisades’ water restrictions were lifted on Friday, two months after the fatal wildfire began.
Thousands of homes and businesses have been destroyed, and the road to recovery is long.
The Ministry of Water and Power reminds Palisade residents to ensure that all faucets and water run at full power both inside and outside the home for 10 minutes.
They need to flush all the toilets and run the dishwasher and washing machine before using today’s water.
“If you have a water heater, rinse it off until the water is gone. It’ll get cold again. Same thing is, replace the fridge and ice maker filters,” said Dr. Christopher Olivarez Martinez, PhD, according to the University of California, Irvine.
Clean water is an important step to rebuilding and regaining power.
So far, 800 temporary electrodes have been installed along the Pacific coast highways and sunset.
However, Los Angeles Mayors Karen Bass and LADWP announced that they would like to have all the power lines on Pallisard underground.
Large projects will soon be launched and will take years to complete.
DWP estimates it will cost between $1 million and $4 million per mile, and hopes FEMA money and private donors will help.
