Attorney General Pam Bondi suddenly cancelled his scheduled Wednesday appearance at the CPAC’s anti-trafficking summit in Washington, D.C., citing recovery from health issues.
Bondi was expected to speak to human trafficking when it became clear at the CPAC summit that he could not create a planned look.
“I have a memo from Attorney General Pam Bondy, who I wanted to share,” Deputy Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti told attendees.

“I’m sorry I miss all of my CPAC friends today,” Bondi said in a statement.
“Unfortunately, I’ve been recovering from a recently torn cornea. “I really hope that I can join you and support all the work being done on this important issue.”
After reading the statement, applause was heard scattered from the audience.
“We appreciate the applause for her, and it’s not a boo for me,” Galeotti joked. “So I’ll do my best to fill those big shoes.”
The Department of Justice did not disclose any additional information regarding Bondi’s health.

Other Trump administration officials spoke at the event, including Homeland Security’s Department of Homeland Security’s Christie Noem and Border Emperor Tom Homan.
Bondi’s cancelled appearance comes as he faces recent scrutiny over the Trump administration’s refusal to release documents surrounding the case of deceased sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.
According to a new report in the Wall Street Journal, Bondi informed President Donald Trump in May that his name had appeared in the Epstein Papers multiple times.
The Attorney General said earlier this year, Epstein’s “client list” was on her desk before the Justice Department, and the FBI recently claimed that Epstein committed suicide and that there was no evidence that he held such a list. Bondi also returned the previous comments, saying it was referring to the Epstein Case file rather than the “client list”.

Trump has been trying to avoid the Epstein topic in recent weeks, and has repeatedly argued that the issue is no longer an issue. He also said he no longer wanted the support of past supporters who continue to push the Epstein case and criticize him as “the weak.”
The president last week said at the White House that he could release “anything you can trust” related to the Epstein case as Bondi defended her work on the issue and criticised Republicans who still pushed for release of Epstein materials.
“He’s dead. He’s gone,” Trump said of Epstein. “And it’s Republicans, certain Republicans are fooled by Democrats, they’re following the Democratic playbook, and they’re not different from Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia, and all the other hoaxes.”

The administration ultimately asked the judge to seal the sale to Epstein from the Florida large ju trial lawsuit, but the request was denied.
