The proud parents had something extra to celebrate this New Year as they added a new addition to their family.
In Los Angeles County, multiple hospitals reported births early in the new year.
A new baby doesn’t just represent a new chapter in the parents’ lives. They are also the first members of humanity’s newest population, the Beta Generation.
Introducing the first baby of 2025.
Baby Magnolia, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measuring 54.5 cm, was born at 3:37 a.m. at Dignity Health California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles.
His mother, Maria Sanchez, who lives in Los Angeles, celebrated his happy arrival with hospital staff.

Hours earlier, Alexandra Ceniceros and Gustavo Muñoz celebrated the birth of their daughter, Sofia, who came into the world at 12:13 a.m. at Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center.
Hospital officials said the newborn weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 22 inches long.

But the birth, which is likely to be the first in L.A. County in 2025, happened at Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Long Beach.
Parents Elsa Ruiz and Miguel Romero welcomed their daughter Ariel Leilani into the world at 12:01 a.m. It came as a surprise to the parents, as Elsa’s due date was originally January 20th. .
Despite arriving early, the baby still weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces at birth.
This is the second child for the Englewood parents, who said they couldn’t think of a more exciting way to kick off 2025.
“When Ariel was born, she came out doing cartwheels. She was so excited to be brought into this world,” Miguel said. “Ariel was due on January 20th, so we didn’t expect her to be born on New Year’s Day.”
To celebrate the first birth of 2025, the hospital gave the family a gift basket containing newborn essentials such as onesie, beanie, receiving blanket, bath supplies and diapers.
Elsewhere in Southern California, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital in San Bernardino County announced the birth of its first baby of 2025, arriving at 12:32 a.m.
More hospitals are expected to announce their first births for 2025 this week.
