The family of young Pasadena students are furious after the girl told the school guard that she was forced to wear duct tape in her mouth.
The parents of Noemi Hurtado, 11, a Blair middle school student, say the school guards were talking so loudly during the break that they forced her to put duct tape in her mouth. The incident occurred Monday, according to the family.
The girl’s father, Ricardo Hartado, allegedly the guards asked her to walk to the principal’s office, closing her mouth and closing her mouth.
“She had the nerve to humiliate it from middle school, walked through it, walked to high school, and to the next classroom, and stated that she wasn’t supposed to take off the tape because she was struggling to be quiet,” Ricardo said.
The allegations have been reported to the Pasadena Police Department, but as of Friday no files have been requested.
In a statement, the Pasadena Unified School District said it is aware of the incident. Security guards involved in the issue whose names have not been made public also said that the district is no longer employed.
“We take these concerns very seriously and are fully working with the Pasadena Police Department,” the district’s statement read. “We are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for our students.”
