A phased plan to reopen all Pasadena Unified schools affected by the Eaton Fire by the end of this month was announced by the district Thursday.
Severe damage from the 14,000-acre Eaton Fire was reported at five campuses, including Elliott Arts Magnet Middle School, Franklin Elementary School (closed in 2020 but scheduled to reopen), and three charter schools: Edison, Loma Alta, and Noyes It was done.

More than 10,000 of the district’s 14,000 students were evacuated from their homes during the fire, officials said.
“To restore normalcy and provide stability for our students, campuses farthest from the impact of the fire will reopen first so our communities can begin the path to healing,” the district said in a news release.
Pasadena Unified’s maintenance and operations team works with more than 1,000 contractors on debris removal and sanitation efforts to meet environmental and safety tests. As of Thursday, 10 tons of debris had been removed from the damaged campus.
Each facility can only reopen after a safe level inspection by the California Department of Emergency Services, the district said.
In addition to campus cleaning efforts, the district is continuing its school lunch program, which has delivered 2,800 meals to families since January 10.
