US passenger flights preparing to leave the US capital and incoming military jets have been instructed to divert and prevent the possibility of a collision, officials said.
Delta Air Lines Flight 2983 was cleared for takeoff at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport at about 3:15pm on Friday.
The Jets were heading for the overpass at Arlington National Cemetery when Delta aircraft received an onboard alert for nearby aircraft. According to the FAA, the air traffic controller “issued corrective instructions to both aircraft.”
“Neighbor from Hell” was arrested and charged after terrorizing his West Hollywood apartment.
With 131 passengers, two pilots and three flight attendants, the Airbus A319 had embarked on a regularly scheduled flight between Reagan and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, Delta Air Lines said.
The flight was scheduled to leave the gate at 2:55pm and arrive at Minneapolis-St. Paul was at 4:36pm local time before flight crews followed diversion instructions from the controller, according to the airline.
No injuries have been reported.
On the Air Force website, the T-38 Talon describes various roles, including pilot training, as “twin engines, high altitude, supersonic jet trainers” used by various departments and agencies, including NASA.
