Democrats will take control of the Pennsylvania Capitol after securing additional seats in the special election Tuesday night.
Democrat Dan Goffner won Republican Charles Davis in a landslide of 63-35 points. The Pennsylvania Senate control is in the air, and the competition is silent as Democrat James Malone leads Republican Josh Parsons by less than 1%.
The Pennsylvania State Capitol was stuck, with both Republicans and Democrats controlling 101 seats before Tuesday’s election.
Democrats lost a razor majority in January after the death of State Sen. Matt Gelley.

The House Race is the fifth special election the Democrats have won so far in 2025 despite the miserable polls.
Poll location: Democrats’ numbers reach record lows
In separate national surveys conducted by CNN and NBC News this month, the party’s favorable ratings fell to an all-time low. These figures followed the Democrats’ record low in a Kinnipiac University survey in the field in February.

Additionally, the latest Fox News National Poll, released last week, shows Congressional Democrats’ approval rate is 30%, close to an all-time low. And Democrat activists are furious at the party’s inability to blunt President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Democrats were highly favored in the Capitol race on Tuesday, but not in the state Senate race.

Regardless of the election outcome, the GOP continues to control the current Senate, currently accounting for a majority of 27-22.
