Claremont Police announced the arrest of a “serial commercial robbery suspect” and a woman suspected of possessing stolen property in connection with the robbery.
A Claremont Police Department press release issued late Saturday night said six stores were robbed “overnight” between Thursday and Saturday. Four of the incidents occurred in the 800 block of West Foothill Boulevard.
The other two robberies occurred in the 700 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard, about three miles south of the other affected locations.
Authorities investigating a series of robberies were able to identify the suspect and track him to a hotel in Claremont on Saturday. The man, identified as Hector Bernal, 30, was seen leaving the hotel just before 1 p.m. and was arrested without incident.
He was charged with six counts of commercial robbery, grand theft, theft of futures, and possession of stolen property.

Bernal, a Covina resident, had just left a hotel with a woman, later identified as 28-year-old Alexis Tinoco of Upland. She was also arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
Search warrants executed at the two men’s hotel rooms revealed additional property belonging to the robbery victims had been stolen, officials said.
Bernal is being held in the Claremont Police Department Jail pending a court appearance Tuesday morning, while Tinoco was released on a written promise to appear in court, according to a news release.
