Simi Valley police have been investigating a late-night attack in cinema parking lots involving multiple boys early on Friday, and have since taken a widespread attention to social media.
Officers responded to the imposing cinema parking lot at 2751 Tapo Canyon Road just after midnight on August 1st following a report of a physical altercation.
Several juveniles were involved in the incident, according to the Simi Valley Police Department. One adult victim was located at the scene and suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
The video of the incident began to circulate online shortly afterwards, prompting community concern. Some social media users, including at least one Facebook commenter, have described the incident as “a horrifying anti-black racist hate crime.”
